Why finding the best young goalkeepers are so important

As the saying goes, “The best offense is a good defense.” That’s especially true in soccer, where the goalkeeper is the last line of defense. A good young goalkeeper can mean the difference between winning and losing.

There are a few reasons why young goalkeepers are so important. First, they tend to be more athletic than their older counterparts. They’re also more likely to have fresh legs, which is important in a sport that requires so much running.

Second, and most importantly – young goalkeepers are eligible for u23 tournaments in Sorare and have huge amounts of utility in Fantasy football and football management games.

In short, young goalkeepers can be invaluable to a team looking to win games and compete at the highest levels of competition

Maarten Vandevoordt Vandevoordt, Maarten KRC Genk

RNDM RATING – 80/100

PROCON
– Plays regularly for Genk and has a transfer already agreed to Bundesliga– One of the more popular players on Sorare and as a result expensive
– Scores well, consistent performer– plays in an average Belgium team

As a goalkeeper, Maarten Vandevoordt has already made a name for himself. The 17-year-old Belgian has been on the radar of many top clubs after impressing for his country at youth level who plays as a goalkeeper for Belgian First Division A club Genk. He will join Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in 2024.

The youngest goalkeeper in UEFA Champions League history when he played for 90 minutes of a game against Napoli on December 10, 2019, at age 17 years and 287 days.

Vandevoordt has good size and is a composed presence in goal. He is comfortable with the ball at his feet and is capable of starting attacks with his Distribution. Vandevoordt is also a good shot-stopper and has the potential to develop into a top goalkeeper.

Giorgi Mamardashvili GIORGI MAMARDASHVILI Villarreal CF

RNDM RATING – 80/100

PROCON
– Plays regularly for Villareal– One of the more popular players on Sorare and as a result expensive
– Scores well, consistent performer, strong team, international utility– plays in a strong league and will have some poor scores

Giorgi Mamardashvili is one of the most promising young goalkeepers in world football. The 20-year-old Georgian has been tipped for big things by many in the game, and he has already shown his potential with some excellent performances for his previous club side FC Tbilisi.

Mamardashvili is a tall and athletic goalkeeper who is very comfortable coming off his line to deal with crosses. He is also a good shot-stopper, as evidenced by his performances in the UEFA Europa League last season.

Valencia’s president gave Mamardashvili a permanent contract with an option of a renewal up until 2024. Giorgi Mamardashvili has been in 18 league matches and has played with 8 clean sheets this season. He recorded 560 minutes in a row without conceding a goal.

He was twice included in La Liga‘s ‘team of the week’ (Matchweeks 1 and 35). Additionally, he received the King of the Match award on three occasions.

While he is still raw and needs to work on his decision-making, Mamardashvili has all the tools to be a top-class goalkeeper. If he can continue to develop at his current rate, there is no reason why he cannot become one of the best goalkeepers in Europe in the years to come.

Lucas Chevalier Chevalier, Lucas LOSC

RNDM RATING – 78/100

PROCON
– Plays regularly for Lille and has now grabbed his spot in the team– One of the more popular players on Sorare and as a result expensive but better value than the other top players
– Tipped to be a future Number 1 for France– plays in an average French team, can be inconsistent and leaks goals

There are a lot of young goalkeepers out there with a lot of potential, but Lucas Chevalier is one of the best. The French youngster has been turning heads for years with his performances for club and country.

On 10 September 2022, Chevalier made his professional debut against Marseille. He was recognised for his performances that even earned him a rating of 8/10 in La Voix du Nord and a spot in L’Équipe Team of the Week.

Since then, he has only gotten better. He was named the Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year in 2017-18 after another strong season with Lille. He has also earned high praise from some of the biggest names in football, including Zinedine Zidane and Pep Guardiola.

There is no doubt that Chevalier has all the talent and potential to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. If he can continue to develop at his current rate, there is no reason why he can’t reach the top of his profession.

Daniel Khudyakov. Khudyakov, Oaniil Lokomotiv Moscow

Khudyakov is known for his reflexes and agility, and he is also a very good shot-stopper. He has all the attributes to be a top goalkeeper, and it would not be surprising to see him playing at the highest level in the near future.

Guillaume Dietsch. Guilahme Dietsch Searing

RNDM RATING – 70/100

PROCON
– Plays regularly for Searing in Belgium– One of the more risky players on Sorare and as a result good value
